Smile Reconstruction

At Denton Lifetime Dentistry, we combine artistry and attention to detail to create natural and beautiful smiles. Successful smile reconstruction requires careful analysis of a patient’s unique color and texture nuances in their natural teeth, and we invest all the time necessary to ensure an optimal outcome. Dr. Goodman takes technique, comfort, and aesthetic into great consideration when determining the best way to reconstruct a smile.

The Effects of Light, Color, and Proportion

We blend art and science when deciding how to best transform your smile.

Light: The way light passes through your teeth must be considered or else dental restorations might be too noticeable. Dr. Goodman studies the translucency and reflection of your teeth when choosing the dental materials for your restorative work.

Color: Natural teeth often vary from each other in color nuance and gradation. Dr. Goodman uses layering techniques to recreate your natural color so that your dental restorations will blend in seamlessly with the rest of your smile.

Proportion: The size and shape of your teeth are important for function and the aesthetic of your entire face. Dr. Goodman measures the proportions of your teeth in relation to your other teeth, lip line, and facial features before crafting your restorations.

Teeth Modeling

Teeth modeling can help you visualize the end result of your smile reconstruction. Dr. Goodman crafts waxed teeth models to physically illustrate what your perfect smile might look like. She measures your bite and each of your teeth to create a model especially for you. This model enables her to make recommendations to optimally improve the function and aesthetic of your smile. You will be able to see just what we can do for your appearance before any treatments take place!

Dental Imaging

Dental imaging allows you to see how your perfect smile fits in with the appearance of your entire face. We will take a picture of you and digitally alter your smile. This visual aid might be just the motivation you need to finally get that confidence boost you deserve.

Extractions

Dr. Goodman will always attempt to salvage a tooth, but she may recommend an extraction if the tooth poses too much of a problem to remain in your mouth. Our extraction techniques are gentle and easy on your gums and surrounding teeth.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

Teeth can handle almost anything thrown at them, but sometimes bacteria or injury can stain or disfigure them. Teeth that can no longer be used normally or have lost their visual appeal can be covered or replaced with crowns and bridges.

What Are Crowns and Bridges?

We blend art and science when deciding how to best transform your smile.

What Can Crowns and Bridges Be Used for?

Crowns and bridges can be used to cover or replace teeth that are:

  • Broken.
  • Weakened.
  • Disfigured.
  • Stained.
  • Filled with many cavities.
Our Crowns and Bridges

Denton Lifetime Dentistry uses a leading-edge lab facility for the careful crafting of restorative artificial teeth. Your crowns and bridges will be of the highest quality for maximum comfort and visual appearance.

First, the sizing and appearance of your crown or bridge will be determined. Dr. Goodman will examine your teeth, bite, and entire facial appearance when deciding what your crown or bridge should look like. An impression or scan and photos of your teeth will be made.

Then, your crown or bridge will be created in a high-quality lab. Dr. Goodman will send all instructions, impressions or scans, and photos to the lab so that your crown or bridge can be crafted to restore and improve the unique appearance of your smile.

Finally, your crown or bridge will be delivered. Dr. Goodman will apply your newly crafted caps over your teeth or implant posts and evaluate their size, fit, comfort, and appearance.

Our high-quality crowns and bridges are designed to last many years. Call us today to schedule a consultation for your restorative dental work with Dr. Goodman.

Bite Splints

If your teeth are worn down or flat, you may be grinding your teeth. Bruxism, or teeth grinding, affects an estimated 40 million Americans, but many are unable to stop the bad habit because it most often occurs while they are sleeping.

Fortunately, there is an easy and fast solution! Dr. Goodman can craft a bite splint just for you that will prevent you from grinding your teeth during the night. A bite splint can stop you from grinding your natural teeth any further and also keep you from grinding and damaging your new dental restorations.

Mercury-Free Fillings

Even with regular at-home dental care, bacteria can still settle on and between your teeth and create holes, called cavities. Cavities can cause your teeth to ache and can lead to more serious infection if they are not filled immediately with special dental fillings.

In the past, dental fillings were made of silver and contained mercury, so they were not only very obvious but also hazardous. Our mercury-free fillings have the following benefits over traditional silver amalgam fillings:

  • Bonded to your teeth for extra strength, so they won’t break down or chip as easily.
  • Tooth-colored, so they won’t be as noticeable and will blend in with the rest of your teeth.
  • Contain no mercury at all, so they are safer for you and your family.

Implant Restorations

Gaps or inconsistencies in your teeth no longer have to break up the beauty of your smile! When replacing missing or damaged teeth, dental implants can provide all the function and aesthetic appeal of natural teeth.

What Are Crowns and Bridges?

A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth root that is installed directly in the jawbone. This sturdy implant post serves as a replacement support for a crown, bridge, or dentures. The implant provides stability for an artificial tooth, allowing it to be used normally alongside the surrounding natural teeth.

A dental implant can replace a missing or severely damaged tooth root.

Our Implant Restorations

Dr. Goodman will examine your teeth and determine whether an implant would be a good way to restore your smile. Our practice works closely with an experienced specialist for the installment of your implant. Dr. Goodman is involved in the measurement, sizing, shaping, and placement of the implant. Your implant will be designed and placed for optimal comfort, function, and aesthetic.

Dentures

Your teeth can attract a lot of attention, and the lack of teeth can attract even more—though perhaps not the kind you want. Your smile says a lot about you to others, but you may find yourself refusing to share it. At Denton Lifetime Dentistry, we want to bring back confidence in your appearance so that you can stop hiding your smile. Our dentures can provide stunning results that appear and feel natural.

Do I Need Dentures?

You use your teeth almost constantly each day for eating and speaking. While they are generally very strong and resilient, they can get worn or damaged from use or bacteria. Your gums can also become discolored or decayed.

However, teeth and gums that are no longer functional or visually attractive do not have to prevent you from having a nice smile. Dentures are an effective solution for covering and replacing extensive oral damage.

Some benefits of dentures are:

  • Covering or replacing damaged or missing teeth.
  • Hiding gum discoloration.
  • Customizability; dentures can be crafted for sizing, spacing, and color.
  • Comfort and stability; dentures can either be removable or fixed.

Dr. Goodman can evaluate your teeth and discuss whether dentures might be a good option for you.

Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures are removable, so they can be taken out at will. Removable dentures may be recommended for patients who do not want to have permanent dental work in their mouth.

Our dentures are carefully designed to look natural and feel comfortable. We offer two types of traditional dentures:

  • Full dentures are used to replace an entire arch of teeth.
  • Partial dentures are used to replace a few teeth or a even a single tooth.

Dr. Goodman will discuss which traditional option would be best to restore your smile.

Implant Supported Dentures

For maximum stability and comfort, our practice offers implant supported dentures. From fixed to removable, we can help develop and plan that works best for you.
